Company: RPC
Sector: Legal Firm
Employees: 1.1K

Challenge: Empowering proactive wellbeing and encouraging earlier intervention with employees
Solutions: Centralizing access to mental health support into a single holistic platform
Impact: Reduced PMI claims by 10% between 2024 and 2025

The challenge

RPC, an international law firm with offices across London, Bristol, Hong Kong, and Singapore, wanted to enhance its approach to employee wellbeing across a diverse workforce as part of its stated ambition to become the best law firm to work at and with.

They faced three core challenges:

Creating a consistent global employee experience

Existing support varied across regions, making it difficult to provide equitable, flexible

access to wellbeing resources across time zones and languages.

Empowering proactive wellbeing

RPC wanted to enable employees to manage their mental health earlier, before reaching crisis point while reinforcing their inclusive and supportive culture.

Encouraging earlier intervention

Rising mental health claims within their UK Private Medical Insurance (PMI) scheme highlighted low engagement with existing support, including employee assistance programmes (EAPs), mindfulness apps, and counselling services.

Strategic approach

RPC set out to implement a scalable wellbeing solution that would:

  • Centralize access to mental health support in a single platform
  • Provide flexible, confidential support tailored to individual needs
  • Strengthen early intervention and reduce reliance on reactive care pathways
  • Embed wellbeing into the broader employee experience and leadership culture
  • Create a more joined-up, data-led approach to workforce wellbeing

A key priority was ensuring the solution could support a global workforce consistently, while also driving meaningful engagement at all levels of the organization.l.

Therapy and coaching have been enormously valuable to our people, with strong uptake and incredibly positive feedback.

Solution

RPC took a whole-organisation approach to launching Unmind, ensuring it was embedded consistently across the business from day one. They aligned messaging across channels, clearly signposted where people could access support, and maintained momentum through ongoing health and wellbeing communications.

For the initial launch in September 2023, RPC leveraged Unmindʼs launch toolkit – including campaign assets, educational content and engagement materials – across email, town halls, intranet content and digital screens. To support adoption from the outset, RPC also worked closely with their client success team to deliver a live orientation webinar, helping people understand the platform, its benefits and how to get started.

  1. Introducing a single, scalable wellbeing ecosystem
Unmind provided a central hub for mental health support, enabling employees to access tools, resources, and professional support anytime, anywhere.
  2. Expanding access to Therapy & Coaching
RPC expanded access to therapy and coaching through a global network of licensed professionals, helping people access support earlier and build healthier habits before issues escalated. This gave RPC a more proactive care model, helping people access the right support at the right time rather than relying on more reactive pathways.
  3. Leveraging AI-powered support with Nova
RPC created a regular spotlight series to raise awareness of different platform features, including Nova, Unmindʼs AI coach. The platform was also embedded into manager and leadership training, helping leaders feel more confident supporting their teams. This included promoting tools such as the Wellbeing Index and providing managers with practical guidance on how to support their teams more effectively.
  4. Driving engagement through a whole-organisation approach
RPC reinforced engagement by embedding Unmind into broader wellbeing activity across the organisation – from seasonal campaigns and Mental Health Champions to lived experience storytelling. Shortly after launch, employees were invited to add up to five loved ones to the platform for free as part of a seasonal giving campaign.
  5. Listening and evolving through data
Running the Unmind Insights survey shortly after launch, endorsed by a separate email from the Managing Partner, promoted the platform and provided people with the chance to openly share their thoughts on mental health and wellbeing at RPC.

With Unmind, we now have a scalable solution that supports our people globally and is fit for the future.

Results

RPC has seen a clear impact across both engagement and business outcomes.

Most notably, RPC saw a 10% reduction in mental health-related UK PMI claims, suggesting more employees are accessing support earlier, before issues escalate.

This provided clear evidence that earlier intervention and more accessible support can reduce reliance on reactive and higher-cost care pathways.

Additional indicators of impact include strong uptake of therapy and coaching, alongside positive feedback in employee engagement surveys:

  • High utilisation of therapy and coaching services, with 1,591 sessions since launch
  • Growing engagement with Nova, particularly among managers
  • Improved awareness of support across global teams, with 87% reporting they are fully aware of available mental wellbeing resources
  • Positive employee sentiment, with 82% agreeing that RPC prioritises wellbeing support
  • 83% feel able to openly discuss their mental wellbeing with their manager

Nova has been a game changer, particularly for our managers in helping them plan supportive conversations.
