Big news: we’ve raised $35m in Series C funding to help organizations deliver better mental health support. Led by TELUS Global Ventures, with continued support from Project A, Felix Capital, and Sapphire Ventures, this investment marks a new chapter in our work to make mental health a foundation for human and organizational performance.

For too long, businesses have faced an impossible trade-off: high-quality care that’s too expensive to scale, or scalable tools that fall short when it matters. Now AI can end that compromise. We’re investing in safe, ethical and science-grounded AI so organizations don't have to choose between scale and quality – just support that works, when and where it’s needed most.

Nova, our AI agent, is trusted by some of the world’s biggest organizations, offering people instant, personalized support – around the clock, around the world – and delivering measurable impact. This funding – bringing us to a total of $82m to date – means we can do more of what works for more employees and organizations – combining AI, therapy, coaching, leadership training, strategic insights and consulting in one comprehensive solution.

Why now?

In an age of restless AI advancements, ongoing market volatility and geopolitical instability, workplace mental health and human capital are no longer HR conversations: they belong firmly in the boardroom.

  • Every year, $1 trillion in productivity is lost to mental ill-health (McKinsey).
  • 12 billion working days are lost to anxiety and depression annually (World Health Organization).
  • 82% of employees are at risk of burnout (DHR Global), and it’s the #1 workforce risk.

At the same time, the data is clear: happier, healthier teams drive better business results. An University of Oxford study of 1,600 US companies found that the happiest firms outperformed the S&P 500 and Dow Jones by 20% – and just a 1-point increase in workforce happiness was linked to $2–3bn in annual profit gains.

What this means for Unmind and for you

With this investment, we’re moving forward in three big ways:

1. AI support, backed by science, guided by humans

Nova is already helping thousands of people to work through life’s challenges, from work stress to sleep. In the past 6 months, usage has grown 92%, with monthly retention over 3x the industry average.

Rather than replacing humans, we use AI to remove barriers to care. Nova offers instant, stigma-free support. When more help is needed, it connects people to human therapists and coaches within the Unmind platform.

“I am incredibly impressed by the interactions I have had with the service and with the rigour with which Unmind has created Nova. This truly could be a game changer!”

Chief Medical Officer, global consumer goods

“Nova offered advice, understanding and expressed sympathy in a genuine and caring way. Thanks to Nova I now feel I can reach out for help; that I'm not alone and my feelings matter”

2. Drawing a direct line between mental health and performance

Mental health strategies too often fail when leaders can’t see and feel meaningful returns on their investment. So our platform is designed to help leaders measure and manage their organization’s health. We combine clinical insights, AI analytics, and productivity data (using WPAI measures) to show the real impact of mental health support, and strategies for increasing that impact.

Unmind delivers:

  • A 10–15% productivity boost after 4–7+ therapy sessions.
  • $6,565 in annual ROI per employee, from reduced absence and presenteeism.
  • Even higher gains for tools targeting sleep and low mood (up to $13,200/year).

Our latest study into how a multinational consumer goods company partnered with Unmind showed:

  • 16% stress reduction for high-stress employees
  • $1m productivity uplift
  • 3.49x ROI
  • Sustainable performance across 4 countries & 3 continents

3. Continuing to expand our global reach

With support from TELUS Health, we’re entering our next phase of growth – with a particular focus on the US market. To lead this charge, we’ve appointed Laura Moniz de Aragao as our new Chief Revenue Officer.

Laura joins from BetterUp, where she led commercial teams across the US and EMEA to support some of the world’s largest organizations in embedding mental health at scale.

At Unmind, she’ll spearhead our global go-to-market strategy – accelerating expansion in the US, strengthening strategic partnerships (including our collaboration with TELUS Health), and bringing our proactive approach to workplace mental health to even more people and businesses around the world.

A future defined by care, clarity, and clinical guardrails

We use AI to increase access, scale support and improve outcomes. People are already embracing it: 68% of employees say they’d rather speak to an AI about stress than their manager (Oracle), and emotional support is now the #1 use case for AI according to Harvard Business Review.

But technology alone isn’t the answer.

As our CEO Dr Nick Taylor puts it:

"AI – when applied with clinical rigour, ethical guardrails, and a human foundation – is a once-in-a-generation breakthrough in mental healthcare. We’re combining scientific expertise with cutting-edge tech to help millions of people feel better, do better, and stay well.”

We believe the future of workplace mental health is:

  • Proactive, not just reactive
  • Whole-organization focused, not just individual
  • Ethically powered by AI, not overwhelmed by it

This funding helps us bring that vision to life.
