Our brand new mental health and wellbeing solutions are designed to drive meaningful cultural change at work. Here’s how and why.

Like a bawling alarm clock, the last few years have woken the working world up to mental health and wellbeing.

When we were starting out here at Unmind – around five years ago now – we challenged perceptions on the topic of mental health, and partnered with progressive organisations seeking change.

Many leaders intuitively understood the human and economic value of helping their people proactively nurture their mental health and wellbeing. So they started giving employees access to apps to help them do that.

This proactive and preventative message was a breath of fresh air.

It just made sense.

(Why only focus on the 1 in 5 people already experiencing a mental health condition when you can proactively support the 5 in 5?)

Fast-forward a few years and every HR and business leader worth their salts is on board with this plan. We all share the vision.

Personal wellbeing apps alone are no longer enough

But, it’s become clear to us, giving employees access to apps alone is no longer enough:

– We’re still confused and overwhelmed. Employees are struggling, just like employers. Everyone’s aware of the problem but few know how to fix it.

– The onus shouldn’t be solely on individual employees to look after their own mental health – there’s too much that’s outside our control.

– Managers and leaders set the tone for healthy working practices – and their impact on organisational culture is immense.

– Wellbeing needs to be measured on an organisational – as well as an individual – level if we want to make focused and impactful interventions.

Clearly, you can’t just log into a healthy mind. To get to a place where mental health is understood, nurtured and celebrated, companies need to drive cultural change.

Organisations need cultural change

We need to
create psychologically safe places where people can flourish.

We need to measure wellbeing so we can actually manage it.

We need to upskill and support managers so they can lead by example.

So we’ve been busy figuring out how to help employers on this journey.

That’s meant a lot of conversations with our wonderful clients and users. It’s meant working with world-leading experts in organisational and personal wellbeing. It’s meant welcoming a ton of fresh, talented, passionate Unminders following our Series B round

We’re incredibly excited to share the products we’ve created.

 (Drum rolls…🥁)
